Waitangi Day (New Zealand day) Concert of kiwis for kiwis & friends of Aotearoa - 5 February 2012 - Winston Kingdom
Been an up & down last 12 months in NZ...first the Pike River mine blast, then the tragic Christchurch Earth Quake...but then the mighty All Blacks suceeded in bringing back the Rugby World Cup after 24 long years..what a way to finish the year!
Definitely a Waitangi Day concert is a good reason for kiwis & friends of Aotearoa to come together & enjoy. We have Nick Hohepa coming all the way from Hamburg especially, plus local favourite Mike Berry, to join him. Also new arrivals in from Christchurch, Naomi Ferguson & Alex van den Broek with their 'jazzy/folk/pop' kiwi tunes. Also, DJ Snowy will also be spinning.
NICK HOHEPA
Nick Hohepa was born in Napier, New Zealand, and music has always been his biggest passion.
He taught himself to play guitar, drums and even tried the saxophone.
He’s recorded and released five singles and videos over the past three years and also released his first self-funded EP in New Zealand and Europe in 2010. Based in Hamburg, Germany where he performed shows and receives airplays for all of his songs at major radio stations all over the country.
Reactions from his new-found fans in Germany include:
“Nick’s soft voice feels like a warm blanket on a cold winter's day drinking a glass of red wine sitting by the fire – to be precise it is beautiful and I want more.”
“A song which gives me goose bumps. I found it very hard to get his music out of my head after listening to it.”
