The 5 piece rock outfit consists of Francois van Coke (lead vocals), Hunter Kennedy (guitar), Johnny de Ridder (lead guitar), Wynand Myburgh (bass) and Jaco Venter (drums)

Fokofpolisiekar is currently one of SA's biggest rock acts. Their explosive performances combined with their distinctive style and fine tuned marketing campaigns have packed out venues nationwide.

They have become a household name in SA due to the controversy generated around them in the media. Although branded by many conventional South Africans as the bad boys of Afrikaans rock, they have also been noticed by Afrikaans literary circles for the intelligent conveyance of their honest and straightforward lyrics. Their success and popularity among both fans and the media alike shows that they have more substance and impact than just an outrageous name. ( Translate: Fuck off police car )

Fokofpolisiekar fans range from teenagers, students, working class and even like minded parents. Both the Afrikaans and English markets enjoy their music. They have headlined at all major festivals and venues nationwide over the past few years.

Just two years after their first release, Van Coke Kartel returned in March 2010 with a third full-length album - Skop, Skiet en Donner. This album followed on the group’s 2009 SAMA-winning release, Waaksaam & Wakker and once again confirmed Van Coke Kartel as a unique phenomenon on the Afrikaans music landscape.

Francois Van Coke and Wynand Myburgh grew up in Bellville together, and have shared their love for making music for as many years as they have been friends. They have played together in many bands over the years, of which Fokofpolisiekar is the best known.

In 2007 Fokofpolisiekar took a break. This break offered Van Coke and Myburgh the opportunity to bring Van Coke Kartel to life, and to focus on their shared musical interests – honest, no-nonsense rock performed with an unequalled intensity, through which to convey their take on life.

Since the release of Skop, Skiet & Donner, Jedd Kossew (lead guitar) and Jason Oosthuizen (drums) have become full time members of Van Coke Kartel. In August 2010, Jason Oosthuizen won the SA’s fastest drummer competition and thus proved himself as a musical force to be reckoned with on the SA Music scene.

Fokofpolisiekar en Van Coke Kartel is huidiglik twee van Suid-Afrika se gewildste en beroemste rock bands. Hulle is oppad na Amsterdam om die Hollandse gehoor weg te blaas met die opwindendste live ervaring nog te siene op hierdie verhoog.

Van Coke Kartel het die toekenning vir Beste Live Act by hierdie jaar se MK Awards gewen en Fokofpolisiekar is op menigde geleenthede as Beste Plaaslike Live Band benoem. Tussen hierdie twee bands is elke noemenswaardige toekenning in Suid Afrika al gewen en albei neem die media oor met uitgebreide lugtyd en dekking oor alle platforme. Dit is duidelik om te sien dat Fokofpolisiekar en Van Coke Kartel ŉ onvergeetlike en onmisbare live ervaring bied.
